Looking for the perfect romantic place to propose in South Carolina before you say “I DO” at The Venue at Springfield Estates in Georgetown? There are many charming beach towns boasting a stunning coastline perfect for a romantic proposal! We have chosen our favorite beaches all within a couple hour drive from The Venue at Springfield Estates, which offer a range of atmospheres from lively to secluded:
A few miles southwest of Georgetown, SC you will find Murrells Inlet, Pawley’s Island and Myrtle Beach with several other romantic beaches in between!
Murrells Inlet is known as the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina," Murrells Inlet also offers romantic spots, particularly along the MarshWalk, with beautiful waterfront views, especially at sunset. A private boat tour on the inlet can also be incredibly romantic.
Pawleys Island is a quiet and picturesque destination known for its historic cottages and unspoiled natural beauty. It's ideal for a romantic and low-key proposal.
South Carolina Beaches
Myrtle Beach (and surrounding areas like Surfside Beach): While generally more lively, Myrtle Beach offers plenty of romantic spots. Proposing with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop at sunrise or sunset is always a classic. The SkyWheel provides a unique aerial view, and nearby Surfside Beach offers a quieter, more intimate feel. Huntington Beach State Park is also in this area, offering unspoiled beaches and the historic Atalaya Castle.
Lowcountry SC Event Venue
A little over an hour drive south of Georgetown off the coast of Charleston, SC, there are three beaches, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island and Folly Beach, that we highly recommend.
Isle of Palms is a charming barrier island in Charleston, SC https://www.discoversouthcarolina.com › visit with clean beaches and a family-friendly vibe. It offers a more relaxed setting, perfect for a classic beach proposal. Wild Dunes Resort is also located here, providing upscale options.
Folly Beach is known for its vibrant and laid-back atmosphere, Folly Beach offers stunning Atlantic views. The pier at sunset is a particularly popular and picturesque spot for popping the question.
Sullivan's Island is a barrier island located off the coast of Charleston often called one of the best beach towns on the East Coast. Sullivan's Island offers a serene and less crowded option for a beach proposal. Its relaxed, local feel provides a more intimate experience.
Two other romantic beaches we love that are only a short drive from Charleston are Seabrook Island and Kiawah Island.
Seabrook Island is private island community near Charleston. Seabrook Island provides a quiet, secluded and peaceful atmosphere with beautiful beaches, perfect for couples looking for a very private and intimate proposal. There is even access to amenities like an equestrian center!
Kiawah Island is known for its pristine, unspoiled beaches, luxurious resorts and a secluded serene atmosphere. Located only 24 miles from Charleston it offers a private and intimate setting for a proposal amidst beautiful natural landscapes.
Further south you will find Hilton Head Island and Daufuskie Island.
Hilton Head Island is a popular choice for a sophisticated and relaxed getaway. Its wide, sandy beaches, coupled with world-class amenities, provide a beautiful backdrop for a memorable proposal. Consider the Harbour Town Lighthouse for an iconic setting.
Daufuskie Island is accessible by water taxi or ferry from Hilton Head Island. Daufuskie Island offers an off-the-beaten-path feel and secluded beaches. Take peaceful walks and find abundant seashells. There are very few crowds making it feel like an escape!
